  • Ghana has been held by Uganda in a friendly
  • The Black Stars are without a win in 2024
  • Ghana lost to the Super Eagles last Friday

Ghana's winless run continued after the Black Stars were held to a pulsating 2-2 draw by Uganda in an international friendly in Morocco.

Goals from Jerome Opoku and Jordan Ayew were cancelled by Steven Mukwala and Shaban Muhammad as the two sides shared the spoils.

The Black Stars got off to a brilliant start after Opoku rose high to head home from a Jordan Ayew corner kick after just six minutes.

Ghana controlled the early exchanges while dominating possession but the tides quickly turned as Fahad Bayo came close to netting the equalizer.

Halfway through the first half, Bayo won a penalty for the Cranes which was converted by Asante Kotoko striker Steven Mukwala Dese.

The Black Stars responded just before half-time from the spot after Ayew scored following a foul on Dennis Frimpong on the right.

Coach Otto Addo rang in some changes after the break, bringing on Alidu Seidu, Salisu Mohammed and Tariq Lamptey for Edmund Addo, Francis Abu and Idrissu Baba.

Despite seizing control of the opening minutes of the second half, Uganda warmed into the game in the final 15 minutes, causing trouble for the defence of Ghana.

Muhammad sneaked in to score the equaliser with eight minutes remaining.

The Black Stars are yet to win a game in 2024, having suffered first-round elimination at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Opoku nets maiden Ghana goal

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Istanbul Basaksehir defender Jerome Opoku has netted his first goal for the Black Stars of Ghana as they take the lead against Uganda in an international friendly in Morocco.

The towering centre-back was making his third appearance for the national team after featuring in the friendlies against the United States and Nigeria.

The England-born defender made his debut in the 4-0 thrashing of Ghana by the USA in October last year but missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
