  • The Brazilian has been targeted by racist chants several times in the La Liga
  • An account linked to former Paraguay goalkeeper has criticized the Brazilian

Vinicius Junior has been brutally told “Football is for men” in the wake of his emotional press conference on Friday, March 22.

The Brazilian broke down in tears during a presser ahead of Brazil’s friendly against Spain as he opened up on the abuse he is subjected to during matches.

The Real Madrid attacker was asked why he was always the one being targeted and he broke down in tears, saying, per BBC:

‘Sometimes I have less and less desire to play but I want to keep fighting.’

Clips of the 23-year-old crying have since dominated social media, and this has attracted criticism from an X account associated with Jose Luis Chilavert, a former Paraguay goalkeeper.

In the tweet seen by Sports Brief, Chilavert appears to fault Vinicius Jnr for crying on live TV, with the former shot-stopper accusing the Brazilian of being the “first one to attack rivals”.

“Bread and circus, he is the first one to insult and attack rivals. Football is for men,” the post, which had some expletives, read.

Chilavert’s career

Chilavert is popular in Paraguay, as he is one of the most capped players for the country.

According to Transfermarkt, he made 74 appearances for Paraguay before calling it quits in 2003. Notably, he represented the nation at two World Cups, in 1998 and 2002.

His club career mostly featured stints in South America, although he also briefly played in Europe with Real Zaragoza in Spain and French side Strasbourg.

Vinicius’ racism ordeal

Vinicius has been the victim of several racist incidents in Spain over the years, with the latest and most infamous coming at the hands of Valencia fans.

In May 2023 at the Mestalla stadium, the Brazilian was abused, and this prompted lifetime bans for three of the culprits responsible.

Valencia were fined £39,000 and forced to close part of their stadium following the abuse.

Vinicius trolls his teammate over fashion sense

Elsewhere, Sports Brief also reported on the hilarious incident that saw Vinicius call out Camavinga over the midfielder’s fashion sense.

Vini Jnr commented on Camavinga’s Instagram post, suggesting the midfielder was dressed like a goalkeeper.
