The 2023/24 English Premier League season is heading for a grand finale as three teams are presently in the running for the title with just 10 games to the end of the season.

Arsenal are presently on top of the table after 28 games but are tied on 64 points with Liverpool with a superior goal difference while Manchester City are third with just a point below them.

According to GOAL, Erling Haaland currently leads the goal chart with 18 goals, and the Man City forward is closely followed by Ollie Watkins, Dominic Solanke, and Mohamed Salah.

Salah is among the top contenders for the Premier League Player of the Season after another remarkable season for the Reds as the Egyptian pushes to win a second EPL title in England.

Sports Brief, alongside Sportskeeda, takes a look at the top contenders for the Premier League player of the season award with only 10 games to the end of the 2023/24 season.

Top 6 EPL Player of the Season contenders

6. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

If Salah can guide Liverpool to another English top flight title along with a second POTS award, the Egyptian will go down as one of the greatest Premier League players of all time.

The 31-year-old is eyeing a fourth Golden Boot award in England as he currently ranks fourth on the EPL scorers chart with 15 goals this season for the Reds.

5. Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

Haaland was favoured to duplicate his performance from last season and win back-to-back POTS trophies.

Unfortunately, an injury that sidelined him for over two months has allowed others to take over.

However, the Manchester City forward is still in contention for another Player of The Season award, as he leads the Golden Boot race with 18 goals and five assists in 23 Premier League games.

4. Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

Watkins currently ranks second in the Premier League Golden Boot race with 16 goals and is tied for first place in the playmaker category with 10 assists. The 28-year-old has been Aston Villa's main supplier of goals this season, contributing a league-high 26 goals.

The Villans have struggled in recent games, losing their lead at the top of the standings. However, as the season comes to a close, they will rely on Watkin's goal-scoring form to help them qualify for the UEFA Champions League the next season.

3. Declan Rice (Arsenal)

Arsenal’s record £105 million signing, Declan Rice, leads the EPL in interceptions, with 35 in 28 games, more than any other player in the top six clubs. In addition to his defensive abilities, the 25-year-old midfielder has six goals and five assists this season.

Rice has appeared in every league game this season and will continue to do so as Arsenal strives for their first league title in 20 years. If the club succeeds, it will be because of Rice's ambition to take the Gunners to the next level, making him a POTS contender.

2. Phil Foden (Manchester City)

Manchester City academy product, Foden, is already having his greatest season in front of goal, scoring 11 goals in 28 league appearances. His seven assists do not accurately reflect his role in providing opportunities for his teammates.

Foden's recent efforts have pushed him to number two in these rankings. If he maintains this form, he will become the first English player to win the POTS award since Jamie Vardy in 2016.

1. Rodri (Manchester City)

Rodrí is arguably the best defensive midfielder in the world, not only in the Premier League. The defensive midfielder is the league’s leader in passes (2634) and touches (2989).

Manchester City play at Rodri's pace, as they frequently struggle when he is not present.

Rodri makes enough of an argument to be awarded Premier League Player of the Season as the Spaniard has also been efficient in the last third, scoring six goals and providing five assists. He can always be counted on and frequently scores a crucial goal in the most important games.

Top African goal-scorers in EPL

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that African stars are scoring in the EPL this season and chief among them is Salah, who has been in outstanding form for Liverpool this campaign.

Chelsea’s Nicholas Jackson is starting to heat up as the Senegalese forward has found the back of the net in each of his club's last two league matches to take his tally to nine.
