Sports Brief alongside Daily Post NG takes a look at the two things the Super Eagles stand to gain if they earn another impressive victory against Mali later on Tuesday in Morocco.
Two things Super Eagles will gain
1. A rise in the FIFA rankings
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will improve on FIFA rankings if they eventually get a win against Mali when both teams battle it out in their international friendly on Tuesday claims journalist Femi Fabumi.
The Black Stars of Ghana and the Eagles of Mali are two of Africa’s top teams and beating them in a recognized FIFA friendly means more points gained by the Nigeria team ahead of next month’s FIFA rankings.
2. Become Africa’s most attractive brand again
After a few years in the wilderness, the Super Eagles gained reckoning again on the continent after reaching the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations where they narrowly lost the title to Ivory Coast.

FootballNigeria has gradually built its reputation as one of Africa’s attractive teams again and a victory against Mali in Tuesday’s friendly will solidify that claim after previously earning a win against Ghana.
Nigeria vs Mali match expectations
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Nigeria and Mali won their initial friendly games against Ghana and Mauritania, respectively, and are now looking for their second victory.
Like the Ghana game, Nigeria is the favourite to win the tie, as Mali's Eagles have been searching for their first win against the three-time African champions since 1978.
Mali will be without Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Yves Bissouma, but still have the likes of Hamari Traore, Amadou Haidara, and Lassine Sinayoko available.
