Finidi shortlisted for Nigeria job

Meanwhile, Finidi George has been shortlisted by the NFF as one of six candidates being considered for the vacant Super Eagles job following the departure of Jose Peseiro last month, Naija News reports.

The current Enyimba coach is among 40 managers who have applied for the vacant position as the NFF’s technical committee seeks to name a new coach for the national team after the March international window.

Finidi is expected to take temporary charge of the Super Eagles for their friendly games against Ghana and Mali later this month before the new coach is named.

Osimhen ruled out of friendly

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has pulled out of Nigeria’s friendly matches against Ghana and Mali due to injury.

The 25-year-old forward had an inflammation of the scar from an old injury and could be out for a couple of weeks, forcing him not to join the rest of the Nigeria squad for the friendly games.

Luton Town defender Gabriel Osho and Empoli star Tyronne Ebuehi have also pulled out of both games owing to injuries.
