The coaching position of the Super Eagles is currently a major topic of discussion within Nigeria's football community.
Following the Nigeria Football Federation's (NFF) announcement of a vacancy for the role on social media, numerous managers have expressed interest in coaching the Super Eagles.
However, amid the buzz surrounding the vacancy, the NFF has appointed former assistant to Jose Peseiro, Finidi George, as the interim coach of the Nigerian team.
Finidi, who oversaw the victory against Ghana, will lead the team in their upcoming match against Mali until a permanent head coach is named.

In light of this circumstance and the attention Finidi’s appointment has garnered, a former Nigerian midfielder has declared his expectations of the interim coach with the Nigerian team.
Ex-Nigeria midfielder's message to Finidi
In a conversation with Complete Sports, former midfielder, Friday Ekpo, encouraged Finidi to establish a robust framework that will endure for years to come.
"Finidi has experience coaching Enyimba and understands the demands of managing a team that competes regularly. With this background, I believe he can make a name for himself.”
Touching on his expectations from Finidi as coach of the Nigerian team, Ekpo stated:
"Based on his performance against Ghana, I expect him to build on that success. I also hope that Finidi was given the freedom to select his players, as this is crucial for our coaches.
"I believe Finidi understands the Nigerian football system, which is centred around winning because victory unites us as a country, regardless of other factors.”

FootballContinuing on his expectations, the 54-year-old highlighted:
"He must also establish a lasting structure that can endure for five to ten years before any changes are made. Past attempts at this have taken too long, and we have failed to build on them. Now that the responsibility is his, he should capitalise on this opportunity and address the shortcomings of previous coaches, creating a solid team for Nigeria."
While Ekpo's sentiments reflect the sentiments of many in Nigeria's footballing community, it is essential to note that this can only be achieved if the NFF appoints Finidi as the permanent coach.
Reports suggest that he is on the verge of being named the permanent coach, but it remains to be seen if these reports are accurate.
