Manchester United could be forced to look elsewhere in search of managerial options after top target Gareth Southgate appears not to be keen on the job.
Minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe prioritised the England national team boss for the role, but the manager labelled the rumours disrespectful to Erik ten Hag.
Per Mirror UK, the British billionaire has a shortlist of other managers he will turn to if he is unsuccessful in getting Southgate.

Jim Ratcliffe's managerial shortlist
1. Graham Potter
The former Chelsea boss was one of the earlier names linked to the role when the billionaire completed the takeover. He has been out of job since the Blues sacked him. He has turned down other jobs while waiting for the right opportunity.
2. Thomas Frank
Brentford boss Thomas Frank is another name the Red Devils have an eye on if the pursuit of their primary target fails. Per Sky Sports, the Dane signed a new contract last December that will keep him at the West London club until 2027.
3. Roberto De Zerbi
De Zerbi is one of the most sought-after managers in Europe. Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly interested, while Ratcliffe has also added him to his shortlist. Brighton are tough negotiators, and it would take paying a hefty fee to get him.
4. Ruben Amorim
Sporting CP head coach Ruben Amorim is attractive to many top European clubs, including Chelsea. The Portuguese, famously dubbed the young Mourinho, has yet to decide on his future, but the Reds have him under the radar.

Managers who could replace Southgate
Sports Brief reported on five managers who could replace Southgate as England national team manager if he leaves his role to become United manager.
Four of those managers are English men, while Jose Mourinho, who turned down the country in 2007, could also be considered if he is open to the opportunity.
