  • Kylian Mbappe is reportedly poised to join Real Madrid in the upcoming summer
  • Joan Laporta is of the opinion that the transfer could create problems for Madrid
  • Mbappe became eligible to negotiate with other clubs starting from January 1st

Real Madrid have been cautioned about the potential for discord in the dressing room if they proceed with the signing of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The Spanish powerhouse are anticipated to finalise the acquisition of the French forward on a free transfer soon.

However, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is of the opinion that the deal might invite more complications to the Santiago Bernabeu than it offers benefits.

After denying that envies Los Blancos for the potential signing of Mbappe, Laporta was questioned about whether he possesses any insights on whether or not the transfer will go through.

He replied to Mundo Deportivo:

"No, I have intuition. They have a problem there. You have to sell a player [if Mbappe arrives], right?
"Because they are not both going to play in the same place and they are also very marked players. And speaking of the figures there will be [in his salary], this distorts the locker room for sure. That's not a gift."

Mbappe to leave PSG?

Mbappe has reportedly notified PSG of his intention to depart when his contract comes to an end at the season's end.

Real Madrid have maintained a leading position in the race to secure his signature, with reports suggesting that his representatives have been scouting for a new residence for him in the vicinity of the Spanish capital.

The 25-year-old is said to receive a substantial signing bonus upon joining as a free transfer.

The 2018 World Cup champion will strive to guide the Parisiens to victory in the Champions League before departing for his next club.

There's a possibility that the French giants might face each other later in the tournament if they advance past their quarter-final matchups.

Sports Brief has also reported that PSG head coach, Luis Enrique, has joked about benching Mbappe for the Barcelona tie.

The Spanish tactician was asked what it would take to have the forward play as a centre-back, but he gave an even better answer.

The Champions League clash between the two giants will see Enrique face his former club for the first time since he left in 2017.
