South Africa head coach, Hugo Broos, has reflected on the team's performance against European minnows Andorra.

In the FIFA Series match held in Algeria, Bafana found themselves trailing after a mistake by goalkeeper Ricardo Goss gifted Andorra an early lead.

However, Elias Mokwana salvaged a draw with his debut goal.

Despite the disappointing result, Broos expressed contentment with certain aspects of the team's performance.

“I’m satisfied, not with the result, I tried to win today, but I’m satisfied with the performance of this team – a totally new team, and I’m certainly satisfied with some players. They’ve given me much satisfaction and I think they are guys on which we can count on in the next games by in June and by the end of the year," said Broos, as quoted by iDiski Times.

Highlighting a recurring issue, the 71-year-old stressed the need for a prolific goal scorer in the squad, having missed several chances to take the lead against the Europeans.

The former Cameroon coach also addressed ongoing speculation regarding his future, mainly rumours linking him to the Technical Director position at Club Brugge. Despite his success with Bafana, including a third-place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023, Broos clarified that there had been no official contact regarding the role.

"So, first of all, about Brugge, I only know that I am a candidate there, and there is nothing more or nothing less than that. So, I know that in the Belgian media, they spoke about it. But again, there is nothing for the moment, nothing at all" he explained, as reported by Goal.

His tenure with South Africa has garnered attention from various quarters, with previous interest from other African nations. However, amidst the swirling rumours, the seasoned coach remains focused on his current responsibilities and addressing the team's footballing challenges.
