  • Cristiano Ronaldo and Achraf Hakimi will be among the ambassadors for the 2030 World Cup
  • Morocco, Spain and Portugal are expected to be given the hosting rights officially later this year
  • It will be the first tournament to be held across three continents in six different countries

The expected 2030 FIFA World Cup hosts have set the ball rolling by unveiling their vision for the tournament. The tournament will be the first in the competition's rich history to be held across three continents.

Morocco, Spain and Portugal are the sole candidates to host the games, but the first three matches will be held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to mark the centenary celebration.

Senior representatives of the main bid committee met at the Cidade do Futebol in Oeiras, the headquarters of the Portuguese football federation, where they announced a couple of plans for the tournament.

The organisers have selected a talented pool of popular footballers, both retired and active, as the ambassadors of the game. The list is headlined by Cristiano Ronaldo, who is arguably one of the most successful footballers of all time.

Who are 2030 FIFA World Cup Ambassadors

Ronaldo will be joined by Morocco's Achraf Hakimi and Spain's Alvaro Morata. Luis Figo, Andres Iniesta and Nourredine Naybe are the retired players who have been selected. Former Real Madrid and Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor will be Africa's ambassador.

The bid is expected to be ratified and approved officially during a special FIFA sitting in July 2024.

"Today marks an important milestone in the historic bid of our three countries, in accordance with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. By working together every day with our Portuguese and Spanish counterparts, we are demonstrating the value of collaboration and teamwork, and we are convinced that the world of football will benefit from it," said the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa in a press release.

The bid's slogan will be Yalla Vamos.

The 2023 World Cup will be the second edition of the expanded format of 48 teams after the games in the USA, Mexico and Canada in 2026.

Arsene Wenger: Africa will win the World Cup soon

Sports Brief reported that Arsene Wenger is positive that an African team will win the World Cup soon.

Africa's best finish in the world remains the fourth-place finish of Morocco at the 2022 World Cup, where they lost to Croatia in the third-place playoff.

Wenger believes that the inclusion of more teams in the 2026 World Cup will give African countries a chance to compete for the trophy.
