Finidi George has noted how important the friendly games against Ghana and Mali are for the Super Eagles as he gets set to take temporary charge of the national team for the two games.
Nigeria will take on the Black Stars on Friday, March 22, before squaring up against the Eagles four days later in the two friendly games which will be held in Marrakech, Morocco.
According to Complete Sports, Finidi promised the Nigerian fans that the Super Eagles would make them proud and give both friendly games the seriousness they deserve after leading the team in their first training session on Tuesday.
“We want to make them proud. AFCON is gone so these are two games that are very crucial for Nigeria so we will take it seriously and get the best out of these games.”

Nigeria is currently searching for a permanent manager for the Super Eagles after parting ways with Jose Peseiro in February with Finidi among the top candidates being considered for the job.

Meanwhile, Finidi has demanded for the support from his backroom staff ahead of Nigeria’s friendly games against Ghana and Mali as he takes temporary charge of the Super Eagles, This Day reports.
The current Enyimba head coach had his first meeting with the backroom staff of the Nigerian senior national team in Marrakech, Morocco before the team’s first training session on Tuesday.
Finidi take full charge of the Super Eagles until the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation concludes its search for a substantive coach for the national team.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the Nigeria Football Federation has reportedly shortlisted Finidi among six coaches for the Super Eagles job after receiving over 400 applications.
Emmanuel Amunike, Daniel Amokachi, Sunday Oliseh, Salisu Yusuf, and Sylvanus Okpala are among the other local coaches suspected to have applied for the Nigeria coaching role.
The NFF has stated it will name the next Super Eagles coach after the March international friendly games against Ghana and Mali, scheduled for March 22 and 28 respectively.
