According to iDiski Times, Bucaners enquired about the striker when they beat them 4-0 in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 on March 16.

The report adds that the young striker came on in the 64th minute against the Pirates, but was unable to change the outcome of the match at Orldno Stadium.

The former South Africa Under-20 star scored the winning goal in the qualifying round against Casric Stars and then contributed to the winning goal against JDR Stars in the last 32. This season, he has scored four times for the Lions

If he joins the PSL giants, Khanyi will look to fight for a spot with Evidence Makgopa and Zakhele Lepasa. Makgopa is Pirates, top goal scorer, this season in the league, with five goals, per Transfermarkt.

Riveiro pick Soweto Derby top players

The Spaniard hailed derby debutants Monnapule Saleng and Thabiso Lebitso, who got the goals. Saleng bagged a brace, while Lebitso scored a spectacular strike in the second half.

The win saw Pirates secure a double over their bitter rivals for the first time in 15 years.

Sports Brief also reported on Riveiro praising Tshegofatso Mabaso following a run of good form in a Bucs jersey.

Mabaso was incredible this past weekend. He scored a brace in their 4-0 thumping of Hungry Lions 4-0 in the Nedbank Cup.
