The Nigeria Football Federation has reportedly shortlisted six coaches for the Super Eagles job after receiving over 400 applications from coaches for the vacant position.
The NFF had called for coaches to apply for the Nigeria coaching role after parting ways with Jose Peseiro, who had led the team to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final, after which his contract expired.
According to This Day Live, former Cameroon coach, Antonio Conceicao, who hails from Portugal, is among over 40 foreign coaches who have applied to become the next Super Eagles coach.
Emmanuel Amunike, Finidi George, Daniel Amokachi, Sunday Oliseh, Salisu Yusuf, and Sylvanus Okpala are among the local coaches suspected to have applied for the Nigeria coaching role.

The NFF has stated it will name the next Super Eagles coach after the March international friendly games against Ghana and Mali, scheduled for March 22 and 28 respectively.
Six managers make Nigeria shortlist
Meanwhile, former Nigeria international, Finidi, has been shortlisted by the NFF as a potential candidate to take over the vacant position of the Super Eagles manager, Naija News reports.
The current assistant coach of the national team is among six managers, including Amunike, currently being looked at by the NFF technical committee to succeed Peseiro as Nigeria’s next coach.
A source in the NFF has disclosed that both Finidi and Amuneke, alongside the other four candidates, will be interviewed before the body’s choice is announced as the new Super Eagles coach.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the NFF has temporarily appointed Finidi to take charge of the Super Eagles in their forthcoming friendly games against Ghana and Mali.
