He was named in Morocco's team for the international break in March and will make his debut in the friendly against Angola, ending Spain's hopes of capturing the mercurial winger. Diaz could add to his tally when Morocco engages Mauritania four days later.

Following his arrival at the Sale Airport, he was met by fans of the Atlas Lions, who are eager to see him make his national team debut.

In a brief interview with the press, Diaz opened up on his ambitions for Morocco and promised to give his best to the African heavyweight.

“Thank you for the support, for the affection. I am one more of you. I am very grateful to the Moroccan people and I will give my best for this great shirt," he said, as quoted by AS.

The ex-Manchester City youth player has been handed the number 10 jersey as Morocco intends to build around the Real Madrid forward. He will be making his first competitive appearances in June when Morocco faces Zambia and Congo in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Diaz has scored 9 goals across all competitions for Real Madrid this season, per Transfermarkt.
