  • Pitso Mosimane is reported to be a target for Wydad Casablanca amid interests from Kaizer Chiefs
  • The South African tactician is currently the coach of the Saudi Professional League side Abha Club
  • The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach is not the only manager linked with the Moroccan club's job

South African tactician, Pitso Mosimane, is reportedly a target for African giants, Wydad Casablanca, amid links with Premier Soccer League side, Kaizer Chiefs.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns manager currently works as Abha Club's coach, and he is tasked with saving the club from relegating from the top division of the Saudi Arabian league.

The 59-year-old signed a short-term deal with the Leaders of the South and has managed to claim two wins, one draw, and two losses in his first five games.

According to a report by Yalla Koura, as per SNL24, Wydad is targeting Mosimane as one of the candidates to replace Tunisian coach Faouzi Benzarti as their new manager.

The South African coach is one of the six managers the Moroccan club targets to replace Benzarti.

Another coach on this list is former Bafana Bafana manager, Carlos Queiroz, alongside Swiss gaffer, Rene Weiler, and Egyptian tactician, Tarek Mostafa.

The Red Castle will face stiff competition from Kaizer Chiefs if they are to go for Mosimane, as the PSL side is also planning on bringing the former Al Ahly back to the South African league as a permanent replacement for Molefi Ntseki.

The Moroccan club decided to part ways with Benzarti after their 2-0 loss to Ittihad Tanger in last week's Botola Pro 1 clash.

Wydad won the CAF Champions League in the 2021/22 season but failed to progress to the next round of the competition this campaign after finishing behind ASEC Mimosas and Simba SC.

In the league, the Red Devils are languishing in sixth place and risk missing a chance to play either in the Confederation Cup or the Champions League.

Why Kaizer Chiefs should go for Mosimane

Sports Brief previously reported on Kaizer Chiefs legend, Edward Manqele, disclosing why the Amakhosi need to go for Mosimane as their next coach.

The South African coach is one of the managers linked with the vacant permanent coaching role at the DStv Premiership side.
