  • Andre Ayew was on target for Le Havre in Ligue 1 on Sunday
  • The Ghana captain has reached a new milestone in France
  • Ayew will lead the Black Stars in the friendly against Nigeria

Andre Ayew's resurgence in the French Ligue 1 continued as he netted his third goal of the season for Le Havre in the defeat to Clermont Foot.

The 34-year-old marked a half-a-century of goals in the French topflight after netting the equaliser in the 2-1 loss at the Stade Gabriel Montpied.

Ayew, who returned to France in December, after almost seven months without a club is leading Le Havre's survival hopes.

His brace against Lorient in January helped Le Havre to an important point before adding his third of the campaign on Sunday.

In his first stint in France, the Black Stars captain netted 47 times, three while on loan at FC Lorient with 44 strikes in the shirt of Marseille, per Transfermarkt.

The veteran forward's return to form is a huge boost for the Black Stars after a disastrous Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Ivory Coast, where Ghana exited at the group stage.

Ayew will lead the team once again in March's international break as the Black Stars engage fierce rivals Nigeria and the Cranes of Uganda in friendlies, as reported by Ghana Soccernet.

Ayew scores debut Le Havre goals

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Andre Ayew scored a late brace and earned Le Havre a point in the six-goal thriller against Lorient in Ligue 1 following his return from a disastrous Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars captain rejoined Le Havre a few days after Ghana's AFCON exit following a late Mozambique comeback in Abidjan.

The veteran forward started on the bench and made the difference after coming on to replace Daler Kuzyaev with 20 minutes remaining.

Ayew named in Ghana squad for friendlies

Sports Brief also reported that Andre Ayew has been named in Otto Addo’s 26-man list for Ghana’s upcoming international friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda.

The Black stars will tackle the Super Eagles on March 22 at the Grande de Marrakech, Morocco, before taking on the Cranes of Uganda four days later in the same venue.
