  • Raheem Sterling was spotted asking for the ball from Cole Palmer before his penalty
  • The Chelsea duo have previously argued over the ball during a league game vs Arsenal
  • Sterling's penalty miss was among the long list in an all-round catastrophic performance

Raheem Sterling endured yet another outing in a Chelsea shirt with a disastrous display against Leicester City on March 17.

Chelsea beat the Foxes 4-2 to secure their place in the FA Cup semi-finals, but the game was nervy for large periods in the second half.

Enzo Maresca's men clawed their way back into the game after going two goals down in the first half. An Axel Disasi own goal and a beautiful curler from Stephy Mavididi nearly forced the game into extra-time before two goals from Chelsea in stoppage time.

Sterling had the chance to double Chelsea's lead in the 26th minute after he was brought down inside the area. The 29-year-old was seen arguing with Cole Palmer on who would take the penalty before the latter ceded ground, angrily throwing the ball at his teammate.

Here is a video of that incident

Palmer has become Chelsea's penalty taker since switching from Manchester City at the start of the season. He is yet to miss from the spot, scoring all of his five attempts in the Premier League.

The duo similarly argued for a penalty way back in October in a league game against Arsenal. Palmer stood his ground then and ended up converting past David Raya to fire Chelsea in front.

Sterling wasn't as lucky against Leicester, with his tame effort being parried away by Leicester City's second-choice goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk.

Worst free-kick attempts ever

Apart from the penalty miss, Sterling also missed a one-on-one situation, putting his effort wide before taking one of the worst free-kicks ever.

Sports Brief has since compiled a list of some of the worst free-kicks in football history after that Sterling effort.

The former Manchester City winger saw his effort go high and wide as Mauricio Pochettino's side attempted to regain control of the match.
