Osimhen scored the equalizer in the first leg, which ended in a 1-1 draw in Italy, but he appeared a shadow of his usual self in the return fixture.
Fabio Capello was particularly disappointed in how the Nigerian forward performed on Barcelona's home ground.
The legendary tactician said, as per Complete Sports:
“He was flagged offside six times in the first half and went unnoticed in the second half.
“It was not the same Osimhen we usually see. He struggled against Barcelona defenders and only won one aerial duel. Barcelona’s weak point was the defence, and he could not emerge.”
Napoli’s next Serie A game is against Inter Milan at the Stadio Meazza in San Siro on Sunday, March 17.
Del Piero speaks on Osimhen's quality
Sports Brief earlier reported that Juventus legend, Alessandro Del Piero, shared his thoughts on Victor Osimhen's quality after a poor performance in Napoli's 3-1 loss to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
Despite backlash from fans on social media, legendary Italian striker Del Piero lauded Osimhen but pointed out what he lacked in the game. He said:
"The commitment was maximum, but aside from that, it was a bad match. He ended up offside so many times, which was a bit excessive, even if his job was to stay on the line and attack deep."
