Egypt forward Ahmed Refaat is battling for his life after suffering a heart attack in an Egyptian Premier League game involving Modern Future FC and Ittihad on Monday.
The 30-year-old forward, who was brought into the game in the second half, collapsed with just two minutes left of the league encounter, causing panic among teammates, opposition and supporters in the stands.
According to GOAL, Refaat’s heart stopped for more than an hour, despite all resuscitation attempts by the medical staff at Zamzam Hospital near the stadium before his heart rate improved gradually.
The 30-year-old forward has been placed in the intensive care unit, where his condition is being closely monitored by medical personnel following the horrific incident.

Initial reports disclosed that Refaat collapsed and his heart stopped due to severe heart rhythm disturbances, including tachycardia, which rendered him unresponsive to electric shocks.
Meanwhile, Modern Future FC has disclosed that they will update everyone concerning the health of Refaat after the forward was rushed to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest on Monday, KingFut reports.
The Egyptian club pleaded for the player and his family’s privacy to be respected by the media in this trying time for the Pharaohs forward who joined the team in 2021 from Zamalek.
Modern Future also called on Egyptian football fans to keep praying for Refaat to make a speedy recovery following the horrific incident.
