  • Hugo Broos has set out the ideal fashion in which he wants to work with the PSL coaches
  • The Belgian is seeking a collective commitment from the coaches backed by SAFA execs
  • Bafana Bafana play Andorra and Algeria in the newly launched FIFA Series in North Africa

Hugo Broos is cashing in on his AFCON success to apply pressure on administrators.

The Belgian has for the longest time listed the lack of backing from the Premier Soccer Laduma (PSL) as one of his biggest hurdles working in South Africa.

The problem has crept up several times, almost pushing him to the point of resignation at stages before and after the AFCON bronze medal.

The Bafana Bafana boss has claimed to have asked on multiple occasions to meet with club bosses and seems that wish may be granted.

The PSL's 'Iron Duke', chairman of both Orlando Pirates and the PSL, is set to make himself available, as per TimesLive. The meeting with Irvin Khoza would be with the straight-shooting 71-year-old, as well as SAFA President, Danny Jordaan.

Clearing the air with the two administrators would be a big bonus for Broos but having a professional understanding with the coaches of all the PSL clubs would make qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup a less complicated task.

The national team's boss has spoken about not wanting to meet each one individually, but to have a group meeting. The combative nature of the PSL may make that unlikely but it is Broos' goal. SowetanLive quoted him as saying:

“I want them together and see what everyone has to say. It’s easy when we are together in one room to say something. This is what I've been wanting from the beginning."

Any meeting between the parties would be the first of their kind since Broos took charge in early 2021, almost 36 months ago.

Hugo Broos shakes up Bafana squad

Sports Brief recently reported on Broos' squad selection for the FIFA Series internationals in Algeria.

South Africa play against Andorra and Algeria in their first appearance since the bronze playoff in Abidjan.

These matches will go a long way in preparing for their crunch 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Nigeria in June.
