  • Victor Osimhen's immediate future remains a huge topic of transfer debate
  • The Napoli superstar is currently linked to a flurry of elite clubs across Europe
  • A former England coach has weighed in on the transfer of the Nigerian forward

The future of Victor Osimhen is undoubtedly one of the topics set to dominate the European football scenes during the 2024 transfer window.

The Nigerian forward, who led Napoli to her first Scudetto crown since 1990 through the 2022-23 season, has caught the attention of a flurry of elite clubs across Europe.

Premier League trio, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United, in addition to French Ligue 1 giant, Paris Saint-Germain, are keen on the signature of the 25-year-old, according to swirling reports.

However, while many fans remain torn about the club that Osimhen should sign for, a former England coach has discussed the impact of the forward's departure on Napoli.

Former England coach on Osimhen's departure

In an interview captured by Italian media outlet, Area Napoli, former England coach, Fabio Capello, emphasised the challenges Napoli would face in replacing Victor Osimhen if he were to leave.

"How do you replace Osimhen next year? It's the million-dollar question. There are no players around to replace Osimhen. You would need a crystal ball to find him," Capello said.

The words of the former Real Madrid coach echo the sentiments of many Napoli fans. Osimhen's incredible form has been instrumental in the club's recent success. His early-season slump coincided with Napoli's poor results at the start of the 2023-24 campaign.

Since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Osimhen has been involved in six goals in five appearances, including a hat-trick against Sassuolo.

While Osimhen's departure seems likely, it's crucial to note that whoever replaces him will have the daunting task of keeping Napoli fans as satisfied as Osimhen did.

Premier League club rules out signing Osimhen

Sports Brief in another report stated that English Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur, have reportedly ruled out signing Osimhen.

The coach of the side, Ange Postecoglou, stated in a recent press conference that he would prefer to sign a footballer with half the price tag of the Nigerian.
