The quest to find the perfect successor for the coaching position of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, was officially thrown open, when the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officially unveiled a vacancy through social media.
This unexpected move by the NFF follows failed negotiations with former coach, Jose Peseiro.
Reports had previously heralded the scenes stating that the Portuguese tactician declined the initial $50,000 contract offer from the Football Federation, holding out for a salary closer to $120,000. Despite the NFF's effort to meet midway by offering $80,000, Peseiro was unimpressed and subsequently announced his departure.
In the wake of this announcement by the NFF, applications from elite managers globally have flooded in, and one of the submissions that have caught attention is that of former Cameroon head coach, Antonio Conceicao.

Conceicao applies for Super Eagles' role
As per a report from media outlet OwnGoalNigeria, the 62-year-old coach has officially thrown his hat into the ring, expressing his desire to lead Nigeria's Super Eagles.
The Portuguese boasts an impressive coaching career, having managed various clubs across Europe, including CFR Cluj in Romania and Penafiel in Portugal.
However, his crowning achievement came when he guided Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions to a bronze medal victory at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The report also highlights that Conceicao has been in constant communication with Peseiro regarding his application, even during the course of the recently concluded AFCON in Ivory Coast.
