  • Cristiano Ronaldo made his first statement after Al Nassr’s latest defeat
  • Ronaldo’s team is winless in their last three matches after losing to Al Raed
  • But the 39-year-old proved he has elite mentality with his message to fans

Cristiano Ronaldo once again proved he is a mentality monster with a defiant statement on social media after Al Nassr’s latest setback in the Saudi Pro League.

The Al Nassr captain could not inspire his side to victory on Thursday, March 7 as they lost 3-1 to Al Raed.

It proved to be a frustrating game for Ronaldo, who hit the bar twice but couldn’t find the net as his side fell further behind in the title race.

That 3-1 defeat was their first since losing 3-0 to title rivals Al Hilal, and it came at the back of a 1-0 loss to Al-Ain in the AFC Champions League.

Such a run of form is sure to deplete a team’s morale and momentum, but Ronaldo is not backing down.

Taking to Twitter on Friday, Ronaldo reckoned the defeat could act as a precursor for a stronger comeback.

“Every setback is a lesson for a stronger comeback,” he posted.

Ronaldo for Al Nassr

Despite the collective setbacks Al-Nassr is facing, Ronaldo’s individual performances for the club have been impressive.

Since joining the Saudi League in 2022, the former Real Madrid man has 28 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. This includes 22 goals and nine assists in the league putting him ahead of all attackers in the league, per Transfermarkt.

Al-Hilal go 12-points clear

Meanwhile, Al Hilal made history with their 27th win in a row thanks to a 3-1 victory over Al-Riyadh.

After a 0-0 draw at halftime, Al Riyadh opened the scoring in the 52nd minute through an own goal by Al-Bolaehi.

The visitors, however, equalised 15 minutes later through a Ruben Neves penalty. Neves then turned assistant as he set up Michael Delgado who turned the game on its head.

Aleksandar Mitrovic made amends for his earlier penalty miss as he converted from the spot in stoppage time, as per Daily Sports.

Ronaldo’s trademark free kick hits post

Sports Brief earlier reported on how Ronaldo rolled back the years with a trademark free kick against Al-Raed.

He struck the ball to perfection, but his effort hit the post before flying out of play.

The former Real Madrid man raised his head to the sky in disbelief, presumably coming to terms with the fact that he missed a chance to get his team back in the game.
