Bragging rights and three points will be at stake when Orlando Pirates face Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby on Saturday, March 9.

Kaizer Chiefs captain Keagan Dolly has sent a message to Pirates ahead of the highly-anticipated encounter.

Evidence Makgopa's tap in in the 20th minute gave the Buccaneers a narrow 1-0 win over Amakhosi in November last year, and Chiefs are looking for revenge.

After 19 matches, the two arch-rivals are separated by one point in the DStv Premiership table. Keagan Dolly, who had taunted Pirates before their defeat last year, says he is ready to take them down.

"Things changed, we lost the last derby, but there's no way I'm going to stand here and tell you guys that I'm afraid of them. It's football, I'm not going to be lying to you guys to look good on camera. I'm still not afraid of them as their players shouldn't be as well," via KickOff.

The Glamour Boys have had the upper hand in this fixture in the last few years. In the previous 10 meetings in the league, Chiefs have won seven of them, Pirates have won twice, and the other game ended in a draw, per Soccerway.

Johnson teases Pirates

Sports Brief earlier reported on Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson taunting Pirates ahead of the 180th Soweto Derby.

The match will be held at the FNB Stadium, and the tickets are nearly sold out. Johnson said the majority of the fans will be Chiefs fans.

Soweto Derby's best moments

Sports Brief also reported on the best moments from the first Soweto Derby of the 2023/24 season.

The obvious moment was when goal scorer Makgopa received a yellow card in the first minute for a cynical tackle on a Kaizer Chiefs defender.

Another notable moment was former Pirates and now Sundowns star, Thembinkosi Lorch, bamboozling Sibongiseni 'Ox' Mthethwa on the edge of the box.
