  • Cristiano Ronaldo endured yet another 'Messi' mockery
  • He has been the target of opposing fans during games
  • To make matters worse, Ronaldo's side lost to Al Raed

Once again, Cristiano Ronaldo found himself the subject of Lionel Messi chants during Al-Nassr's unexpected defeat to Al Raed on Thursday, March 7.

The 39-year-old has frequently been targeted by opposing fans who attempt to distract him by chanting the name of his longstanding rival, Messi.

Ronaldo's 'Messi' ordeal with opposing fans

While Ronaldo typically responds with minimal reaction, a previous incident involving a crude gesture towards his private area resulted in a one-game ban for unsportsmanlike conduct, as noted by Sporting News.

Upon his return from suspension, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus ace seemed to have learned from his past actions and maintained his composure during Al-Nassr's AFC Champions League defeat to Al Ain.

Al Raed fans taunt CR7 with 'Messi' chants

However, the Al Raed supporters persisted in their taunts, waiting until the end of the match to chant "Messi" as Ronaldo made his way off the pitch and towards the tunnel.

Videos circulating on social media platforms, sighted by Sports Brief, captured the loud chants from the small group of Al Raed fans.

Does Al-Nassr's recent defeat affect their title chances?

The defeat against Al Raed extended Al-Nassr's winless streak to three games across all competitions, leaving them trailing table-toppers Al-Hilal in the Saudi League standings.

With Al-Hilal having played one fewer game, a victory for Jorge Jesus' side against Al Riyadh would likely secure them the league title with only 11 games remaining in the season, per El Futbolero.

Although clinching the league title may appear distant, the 2023 Arab Cup champions must redirect their focus to the AFC Champions League and the Kings Cup.

They are currently in the quarter-finals of the Asian equivalent of the UEFA Champions League and the semi-finals of the domestic cup, presenting opportunities for further success.

Ronaldo looks shattered after defeat

The frustration was evident on Cristiano Ronaldo's face as he watched Al-Nassr's surprising 3-1 loss to underdog Al Raed, Sports Brief reported.

While the visitors rejoiced in their unexpected victory, Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, seemed visibly troubled.

Despite his efforts to motivate his teammates, their performance fell below expectations, leaving him disheartened as they experienced their first home defeat of the season.
