Former Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, is currently considering his options as negotiations with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have hit a stalemate.
The 63-year-old, who guided Nigeria to its best finish at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) since their 2013 triumph, has announced his departure as the Super Eagles' coach, following the expiration of his contract.
Despite this announcement, discussions for a potential contract extension are reportedly ongoing between Peseiro and the NFF.
Sports Brief had previously reported the NFF is offering the Portuguese coach an $80,000 monthly contract, slightly below Peseiro's request of $120,000.

Nonetheless, as both parties try to reach an agreement over the immediate future of the Super Eagles coaching role, another report courtesy of OwnGoalNigeria, has stated the former Real Madrid assistant manager, is open to dumping the Nigeria national team.
Peseiro to dump Nigeria?
The report suggests that the 63-year-old coach may be considering the position of head coach for the South Africa national team, should the current coach, Hugo Broos, decide to step down.
Broos' future has been making headlines recently, despite his success in guiding South Africa to a third-place finish at the AFCON.
The report states that the 71-year-old manager is open to taking a new role in his native Belgium. Hence, Peseiro has put the South Africa Football Federation (SAFA) on high alert with regard to the potential of replacing Broos.
It's worth noting that both Bafana Bafana and the Super Eagles are currently in the same qualifying group for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and are set to face each other in June.
