  • Kaizer Chiefs' Wandile Duba is anticipating the Soweto Derby showdown against Orlando Pirates
  • Duba scored his first senior goal for Amakhosi, helping the club to a 1-0 win over Golden Arrows
  • Although fans are concerned over his fitness, the teenager says he will be ready for the encounter

Ahead of their titanic away game against Orlando Pirates, Wandile Duna has assured Kaizer Chiefs fans that he will be prepared.

The 19-year-old has taken time to downplay concerns over a possible ankle injury after netting a screamer on Wednesday.

Duba scored his first senior goal for Amakhosi in their 1-0 win over Golden Arrows at the FNB Stadium.

He wasted no time in announcing himself on the big stage when he found the back of the net in the entertaining DStv Premiership clash.

His historical goal was important for Chiefs as they have struggled in front of goal in recent matches.

Fans are worried the youngster might not be in action against Pirates, although he has given assurances that he will be ready for the game.

He told SuperSport TV, as per the South African:

"It’s not something to worry about. I’ll be okay for the derby. They [Orlando Pirates] should expect me because I’m coming."

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs interim boss, Cavin Johnson, has cautioned supporters to lower their expectations from the lad, but admitted that Duba is likely the one for the future.

"To judge him on one game would be premature. But to judge him on training sessions and the mentality and attitude he’s had at training, then he probably has a long way to go with Kaizer Chiefs.
"He just has to keep on working hard and accept that he won’t always start. If he stays humble, he will be a good striker," Johnson added.

Itumeleng Khune returns after 3 months

Sports Brief earlier reported that Chiefs have decided on Itumeleng Khune again, with the veteran suspended from the team since last December.

The goalkeeper was stripped of the Amakhosi captaincy three months ago after he allegedly arrived for team training under the influence of alcohol.

Kaizer Chiefs released an official statement confirming their decision to lift Khune's suspension after three months, with his contract almost finished.
