Chelsea have reportedly made a decision on the prospect of hiring Jose Mourinho to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino has come under immense pressure since taking charge at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues currently struggling for form.

The West London club have failed to hit the ground running under the Argentine, as they currently occupy 11th place in the Premier League standings.

Their disastrous run of form has sparked fears that Pochettino could be sacked just one season after taking charge.

Football London reports that the former Tottenham Hotspur boss is now facing a defining few months in his hopes of keeping his job at Stamford Bridge.

While winning a trophy could help Pochettino save his job, the publication claims that it is already over for the Argentine.

Chelsea's stance on hiring Mourinho

It is believed that Mourinho is a strong favourite to replace Pochettino in the event the latter is handed his marching orders.

Mourinho enjoyed two successful stints with Chelsea that saw him win three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and three Football League Cups.

However, Metro UK reports that Todd Boehly is unlikely to move for the Portuguese to replace Poch, with sources playing down the prospect of a third stint at the club.

The development comes at a time when a section of supporters and former players have backed Mourinho for the job.

Former Chelsea star Emmanuel Petit recently argued that the veteran boss would give the team character and personality.

Pochettino responds to Mourinho chants

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Pochettino breaking silence after a section of Chelsea fans was overheard chanting Mourinho's name during their clash against Brentford.

The Blues' struggles continued on Saturday when they visited Brentford at the Community Stadium.

Chelsea, who have endured a frustrating campaign under Pochettino, were looking to secure a win to boost their chances of playing in Europe next season.
