The German tactician has announced he will step down as coach at the end of the season, and the club have already started looking for a new manager.

While Xabi Alonso is said to be the number one choice, the Bayer Leverkusen manager is linked with a move to fellow Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich.

With Thomas Tuchel getting the sack at the Bundesliga champions once the season ends, more eyes have turned towards Alonso.

The Bavarian side are keen to replace Tuchel with their former player, but Alonso has remained mum on the situation.

The Spaniard was asked about links to both sides but stated that he was currently focused on Leverkusen.

Liverpool linked with Portuguese manager

With Alonso yet to make a decision on his future, Liverpool are keeping their options open on their future manager. The Independent reports that they are also keeping an eye on Ruben Amorim.

The Sporting Lisbon boss has restored the club to some of its former glory and has helped them compete with the likes of Benfica and Porto.

Amirom has been in charge of the Portuguese league side for 194 games, winning 137, drawing 27, and only losing 30, Transfermarkt reported.

Alonso tipped to replace Mauricio Pochettino

Sports Brief also reported a former Arsenal star stating Xabi Alonso is perfect to replace Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea boss.

The Argentine manager has endured a difficult start to his first season at the club, with the Blues languishing in 10th on the table.

Emmanuel Petit believes the current Leverkusen coach would be a perfect fit for the London-based side, should Poch be cast out.
