  • Tim Sherwood wants Chelsea to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney
  • The Blues have been strongly linked with Victor Osimhen
  • Osimhen is expected to cost Chelsea over €100 million

Chelsea has been advised to cool their interest in Napoli forward Victor Osimhen and focus on getting a striker with Premier League experience in the summer transfer window.

The Blues are the front-runners to sign the Super Eagles striker when the window opens, but they will have to contend with Arsenal, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain for the attacker.

According to Daily Post, Sherwood has now urged Mauricio Pochettino to instead sign Brentford attacker Ivan Toney rather than risk signing Osimhen who has no Premier League experience.

“This would be a sensible signing if they would take Ivan Toney. They (Chelsea) have taken players who are a little bit younger than Ivan, but they haven’t had any experience of the Premier League.
“They can’t have any more risks in the transfer market. They need to get sure things. That (Toney) is the nearest thing to a sure thing you are ever going to find. He has experience of scoring goals in the Premier League.”

Per Transfer Markt, Toney’s current market value is pegged at €35 million and should cost way less than Osimhen, who is valued at over €100 million by Serie A champions Napoli.

Victor Osimhen drops transfer hint

Meanwhile, Osimhen has already dropped a big Manchester United transfer hint ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window, Sport Bible reports.

The 25-year-old Nigerian forward could be open to a transfer to Man United at the end of the season as he owns one of the club's jerseys in his wardrobe.

The Red Devils are the latest club to show interest in signing Osimhen from Napoli this summer, as Arsenal, Chelsea, and PSG have all been linked with the Napoli superstar.

Why United could miss signing Osimhen

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Manchester United's pursuit of Osimhen could be a pipe dream for the Premier League club, as a fresh development suggests the Red Devils will be unable to finance a move for the Napoli star.

Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions may prevent the Old Trafford club from completing a deal for the 25-year-old forward, despite the fact that he is top of their summer wish list.
