The Premier League has been a staple of South Africa's football diet for over 30 years.
With every season, the African footballing footprint in Europe grows and it does so exponentially in the continent's 'super league'.
Before he was the most trusted name in football, Robert Marawa was just a fan whose love of the game stemmed from England's top division.

While on his promotional tour, Marawa spoke to Sports Brief about how African players have used the Premier League as a platform to promote the continent, while simultaneously enriching the league. Acknowledging the greats who have graced English pitches, he explained:
"African superstars have been showcasing their skills. That is what we appreciate about the Premier League. The African child who had a dream to play there was able to do that."
As per the current Premier League squads, 18 of the 20 teams in the league have an African player in their ranks.
A total of 52 African players are registered in the top flight, with players coming from 15 different nations on the continent. As per AceFootball, Ghana and Ivory Coast are the most represented, with seven and eight representatives, respectively.
Names like Tony Yeboah, 'Jay-Jay' Okocha and Didier Drogba will echo through England's grandstands for generations. Affirming his respect, Marawa concluded:
"There is a long list of African players, nevermind just South African players, who have called it home and that is why the Premier League is such a popular offering on the African continent. Those players didn't just participate, but were really big superstars."
