Nigeria’s All Africa Games U20 Football Tournament Fixtures and Training Squad

All systems are set in Ghana for the 2023 edition of the All African Games.

The three-week event had been originally scheduled for August but was moved to March 2024 for logistical reasons.

The multi-sport festival features 30 events, with some offering a pathway to Paris 2024, and others showcasing a range of emerging sports.

Hot on the heels of a successful AFCON, the men's football tournament will feature nine U/20 teams. The two groups will feature four and five teams, as per CAF Online.

The hosts are drawn in Group A, which includes Gambia, Benin and Congo. In Group B, favourites Nigeria are drawn with South Sudan, Senegal, Uganda and Tunisia.

Nigeria's All Africa Games group fixtures

  • Uganda on March 8
  • South Sudan on March 10
  • Senegal on March 12
  • Tunisia on March 14

All of Nigeria's group matches kick off at 20:00 and all Group B matches will be played at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The top two teams in each group qualify for the semi-finals, which will be played on March 19. The final is scheduled for March 22 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Nigeria All Africa Games pre-camp squad

Ladan Bosso named a 30-man training squad. which will be trimmed before the competition begins. The training squad features three players for the FIFA U/20 World Cup, where Nigeria exited at the quarter-final stage. As per GhanaSoccernet, the full squad is:

Nigeria upset Argentina at U20 World Cup

Sports Brief earlier reported on Nigeria defeating Argentina at the FIFA U20 World Cup.

The Flying Eagles heroically beat the tournament hosts 2-0 to advance to the quarter-finals.

There were incredible scenes as Argentines watched haplessly while the Nigerians celebrated.
