South African midfielder Kamohelo Mahlatsi has decided to join Kaizer Chiefs' Premier Soccer League (PSL) rivals after leaving the AmaKhosi last year.

The 25-year-old came through the youth ranks of SuperSport United academy before being sent on loan to Ubuntu Cape Town and University of Pretoria FC.

The midfielder joined Moroka Swallows in 2020 and amassed 55 appearances with the Dube Birds.

In 2022, the Bafana Bafana midfielder joined Chiefs but parted ways with the AmaKhosi last September after making just seven appearances in all competitions, according to a report by iDiskiTimes.

On Friday evening, Chippa United announced the signing of Mahlatsi on a free transfer after their FIFA ban was overturned.

Mahlatsi is a left-footed player who could play as an attacking midfielder, behind the striker (supporting striker) or as a centre forward.

It was reported earlier that the former Kaizer Chiefs star was training with Chippa United before the club decided to sign him on a free transfer.

Mahlatsi will join the likes of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and South Africa's Diego Appollis at the Buffalo City Stadium.

Chippa United's decision to sign Mahlatsi stirred different reactions from fans on the social media platform, X.

Chippa United set new fee for Nwabali

Sports Brief reported that Chippa United imposed a new transfer fee on Nwabali, ensuring his worth is recognised and protected.

He debuted with the Super Eagles national team six days before the kickoff of the showpiece in Ivory Coast. The 27-year-old goalkeeper swiftly evolved into one of the tournament's finest custodians.
