Goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma, who has kept five clean sheets in six matches this season, has sent a message to suspended star Itumeleng Khune.

It is now more than two months since disciplinary action was taken against Khune after he arrived in training under the influence of alcohol.

An investigation was immediately launched following the incident, with the 36-year-old stripped of his captaincy and subsequently suspended.

Since becoming the No.1 choice, Bvuma has been impressive in goal, making brilliant saves.

In a chat with the media, the goalkeeper referred to Khune as his childhood idol, branding him a South African football legend.

He said via iDiski Times:

“Itu is a legend of the club, a legend of South African football. This is one person that we all idolised growing up, especially goalkeepers.
“I’ve learnt a lot from him. With everything that’s going on, this is someone that I’ve very close with.
“We do talk quite a lot and he’s happy with me playing and performing for the team and stuff.
“Do I miss him, of course I do. As I mentioned he’s a club legend, he’s a South African legend.
"Not having someone like that next to you, of course you miss them when you [were] with that person each and every day."

Khune linked with Sekhukhune United

Sports Brief earlier reported that the future of Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has been the subject of speculation, with rumours recently linking him to Sekhukhune United.

Khune, who extended his contract with Amakhosi for one year in June 2023, is set to see his tenure with the club conclude at the end of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

More recently, there has been speculation about the shot-stopper's potential move to Sekhukhune United as his contract with Chiefs nears its end.
