  • Paul Pogba has enjoyed a successful football career through the years
  • However, he has also endured some difficult and sticky situations
  • The midfielder was on Thursday slapped with a four-year football ban

Paul Pogba is widely regarded as one of the finest midfielders in the game.

The Frenchman has enjoyed an impressive football career that has seen him win multiple titles through the years.

He is known for his charisma and flamboyant lifestyle off the pitch and for his powerful and exceptional playing skills on the pitch.

However, football fans will not get to experience that in the next four years after the former Manchester United star was handed a four-year ban on Thursday, February 29.

Pogba was slapped with the ban by The National Anti-Doping Tribunal after he returned a positive test for a banned substance.

Per Metro UK, the 30-year-old tested positive for DHEA in August 2022, with a counter-analysis of his samples also returning a positive test.

The ban will see Pogba fail to make an appearance on the pitch at least until September 2027, depending on the outcome of his planned appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Given the latest tribulation Pogba has to contend with, Sports Brief takes a look at the midfielder's most memorable moments of his career.

1. Winning the World Cup

Top on this list is Pogba's World Cup triumph with France in 2018.

The midfielder was part of the Les Bleus team that won the global football showpiece in Russia.

France beat Croatia 2-1 in the final to lift the trophy.

2. Re-signing for Manchester United

In 2016, Pogba made a sensational return to Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho, penning a five-year contract with Manchester United.

His reunion with his boyhood club came after a successful stint at Juventus that had seen him establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.

3. Setting transfer record

Pogba's reunion with the Red Devils came at a price.

According to Sky Sports, United forked out £80m to land Pogba, in what was a world transfer record at the time.

4. Dominating at Juventus

The 30-year-old's domination at Juventus will be one of the greatest highlights of his football career.

Pogba formed a key part of the team that dominated the Serie A, where they won four league titles in a row, alongside two Coppa Italia crowns, and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies.

5. Clashing with Jose Mourinho

Pogba did not have the best relationships with Jose Mourinho during their time together at Old Trafford.

Their relationship was marked by public criticism, tension, and the ultimate breakdown in their ties.

At one point, Mourinho sensationally branded Pogba as 'the virus' in the team, with results not going their way.

6. Wonder goal against Chelsea

Back in 2019, Pogba scored what would easily pass as one of the best goals of his career.

The Frenchman left fans in awe with his stunner that helped United defeat rivals Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Fans react to Pogba’s ban

In other related news, Sports Brief reported on fans' reaction to Pogba's ban after it was announced that the former Manchester United star will not be able to play until August 2027.

The news came with criticism of his attitude towards football, particularly from United fans who slammed him for wasting his talents as he did not take his career seriously enough.
