Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune, has been spotted training alone, away from the team's training grounds.

The seasoned player found himself sidelined by the club after allegedly attending a training session in December 2023 while under the influence of alcohol.

This led to the stripping of his captaincy and his subsequent absence from matches.

Khune, now 36 years old, has been undergoing a program designed to support his personal growth and development, as announced by Chiefs' management following the conclusion of their disciplinary procedures.

"Following the conclusion of the club's rigorous disciplinary processes... the committee has taken stern action and decided that Itumeleng Khune should be temporarily separated from the team until certain conditions have been fulfilled," stated Chiefs on December 7, 2023.

Although the club has not officially confirmed the specifics of Khune's actions, the decision to suspend him and relieve him of his captaincy strongly suggests the seriousness of the incident.

Despite his suspension, the shot-stopper remains committed to maintaining his fitness. In a video shared on X by Football SA, the player can be seen diligently training on his own.

Chiefs head coach, Cavin Johnson, also previously reiterated that there was no change in Khune's status and affirmed that his suspension would persist until further notice.

"He’s still in the same situation that you guys find in the media, and the club will do something once that is done," the interim coach said, per iDiski Times.

This latest development has left uncertainty over Khune's future, especially considering that his contract with the PSL giants expires at the end of the current season.
