  • Kylian Mbappe has yet to make an announcement on where he will play next season
  • Manchester City reportedly met with the Frenchman's team about a potential move
  • Despite Erling Haaland scoring five against Luton Town, Mbappe could still join in

When you have a striker in Erling Haaland, who can score five goals in a single game, there’s not much need for more attacking reinforcements.

Manchester City’s 6-2 routing of Luton Town in the FA Cup proved just how lethal they can be, but what if they added Kylian Mbappe to that mix?

The French striker announced he would leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, but hasn’t disclosed where he will play football next.

Kylian Mbappe would provide another attacking threat to Manchester City if they were to sign him.

Real Madrid are favourites to sign the superstar, but as Football Espana reported, Mbappe has denied that he reached an agreement to join the Spanish team.

With the former World Cup winner yet to sign a deal with a side and his representatives reportedly meeting with the English club, Sports Brief looks at how their attack would fare with the Frenchman in the squad.

How Man City could line up if Mbappe joins

Centre-forward: Erling Haaland

The Norwegian plays best when he is front and centre in attack. Haaland has been absolutely lethal in front of goal and is hitting his stride again after injury.

The former Borussia Dortmund star has only made 83 appearances for the team, but he’s already notched up 79 goals.

If Haaland cannot play, Julian Alvarez is more than capable enough to deputise for him. Mbappe could also slide into that position if needed.

Left wing: Kylian Mbappe

While Mbappe plays as a centre forward for PSG, he is most effective on the left-hand side of the attack.

It’s a role he plays for the French national team when Olivier Giroud leads the line and a role he plays well.

Forbes reported that the only concern would be that Mbappe thrives on counter-attacks, while City are a side that prefers to use possession to their advantage.

Fans were concerned about Haaland being the same way when he joined, but he has proven doubters wrong. Jack Grealish currently fills that left-wing position for the team.

Attacking midfield: Kevin de Bruyne

If you need a midfielder who provides an attacking threat and can feed those around them, there’s no one better than KDB.

The Belgian star is nicknamed the ‘Assist King’ for a reason, and his 165 assists for City are proof of that.

De Bruyne was recently injured and missed the first half of the current season, but that hasn’t slowed him down.

Right wing: Phil Foden

Foden has really developed into a world-class player. A product of the City youth academy, he is now valued at €110 million.

Foden has already made 256 appearances for the senior squad, scoring 76 goals and notching up 56 assists. He’s proven to be a crafty, quick attacker and has already terrorised many defences.

City also have Bernardo Silva, who can operate down the right side of the attack, so they are not short of options.

Paris Saint-Germain fans boo Mbappe

Sports Brief reported how PSG supporters turned on Mbappe after he decided he would leave the club.

The French attacker recently announced that he will not sign a contract extension with the Ligue 1 side.

While Luis Enrique opted to start him during his first game since the announcement, fans were outraged.
