Mosimane delivered on this expectation by guiding the team to promotion, triggering significant bonus payments. However, the club still owed him and his technical team outstanding salaries upon his departure.
Taking the matter to FIFA, the former Bafana Bafana manager's claim for a breach of contract was upheld. As a result, he is entitled to compensation totalling around R22.2 million.
FIFA, in its statement on Mosimane's case, highlighted the club's failure to fulfil contractual obligations, including salary payments and bonus remittances.
"In his claim, the claimant argued that the respondent failed to pay various salaries. Furthermore, the Claimant argued that several bonus payments in the amount of R4.75 million [USD246,000] net had not been remitted," read the statement, as quoted by Far Post.
What Al-Ahli must pay Mosimane
The ruling mandates that Al-Ahli pay the coach an outstanding remuneration totalling USD 355,500, along with interest and compensation for breach of contract amounting to USD 786,000, plus interest.
In addition, the club must pay USD 8,218 net as outstanding remuneration, USD 3,394 as outstanding remuneration, and USD 786,000 as compensation for breach of contract without cause, plus 5% interest as reported by iDiski Times.
