Premier Soccer League club Orlando Pirates are said to be closing in on a long-term target as they are desperate to bolster the squad.

The pacey winger recently left rivals Royal AM after his deal with the club expired.

Mogaila was let go after failing to agree on a new deal with the club, as he wanted an improved contract.

The 28-year-old midfielder is said to have been eyeing a move to join Pirates even before his transfer to Royal AM.

A source told Soccer Laduma that the Johannesburg-based side are already in an advanced stage of signing the player ahead of the next season.

“Now that he is released, Pirates have a great chance to sign him, but apparently, they will wait until the end of the season.
"Their reasoning is that they already signed players in January, and they don’t want to just overload the team at the moment with just a few months before the end of the season.
"However, they seem to be talking to the player and his representatives for the July transfer window, though he is a free agent right now."

Pirates boss hails Makgopa

Sports Brief earlier reported that following Evidence Makgopa’s standout performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023, his club coach, Jose Riveiro, says the player has undergone a remarkable transformation.

The Orlando Pirates striker showcased his talents during the recent continental tournament in Ivory Coast, where the host nation emerged victorious.

His contributions were instrumental in South Africa's AFCON 2023 success, with the team securing a bronze medal after a thrilling victory over DR Congo in the third-place playoff.
