Despite Manchester City’s dominance in the Premier League in the last three years, Pep Guardiola’s side is being pushed to the limit by Arsenal and Liverpool.
After 26 rounds of matches, Liverpool are top of the pile with 60 points, one behind City in second place.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal seem to have learned from last season’s mistakes and remain two points shy of the summit.
La Liga - Real Madrid running away
Real Madrid seem overly determined to reclaim the La Liga title from arch-rivals, Barcelona, and they are doing it with style.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men have taken full advantage of Barca’s frailties this season, and after 26 games played, they hold a comfortable six-point lead over Girona, whose surprise title bid took a dip in recent weeks, per the La Liga website.
Barcelona are third with 57 points, eight behind their fierce rivals, although departing manager Xavi insists the title race is still alive.
Serie A: 'Give Inter the title'
With 12 league games to go, it will take a miracle to knock Inter Milan off the top.
Atletico's Simeone returns to cherished Milan for tough Inter battle
FootballThe Nerazzuri, under Simeone Inzaghi, have done little wrong this season and with only one defeat all season, find themselves nine points clear with a game in hand.
Juventus were pushing Inter late in 2023, but a run of only three league wins in seven games from January 13 has seen the Old Lady fall off spectacularly.
During that time, Massimiliano Allegri’s team suffered back-to-back defeats, including a 1-0 loss to runaway leaders, per the Juventus website.
If they miss out on the title this season, they will look back at those two defeats as the turning point in their season.
As a side note, defending champions - Napoli - are having one of the worst title defences in recent history, as they currently lie ninth on the log.
Bundesliga: Leverkusen looking very good
In Germany, the odds are being upset by Bayer Leverkusen.
The only unbeaten side in the league across Europe’s ‘Big Five’, Xabi Alonso’s men are on course to clinch their first league title in the club’s history.
Napoli visit begins Xavi's final chance of Barca pride
FootballThis will, of course, come at the expense of Harry Kane and Bayern Munich, who have been unpredictable under Thomas Tuchel this season.
With nine league games to go, Leverkusen enjoys an eight-point lead at the top, thanks to a run of 19 wins and four draws.
Leverkusen stamped their title-contender credentials on February 10, beating Bayern 3-0 at the BayArena.
Ligue 1: Another year, another PSG domination
Like in Serie A, it will take something special to knock off Paris Saint-Germain from their perch.
Under Luis Enrique, the French giants have been in typical dominating form in the league, suffering just one defeat and establishing an 11-point gap on closest rivals, Brestois.
From the proceedings in the French top tier, it looks like Kylian Mbappe will end his final season with PSG with a sixth league title.
Why Leverkusen may not win Bundesliga
Sports Brief also reported on Pep Guardiola’s take on the Bundesliga, with the Spaniard claiming Bayer Leverkusen were not yet out of the woods.
The veteran tactician advised Xabi Alonso to be wary of the threat posed by his former club, Bayern Munich, who have won 11 league titles in a row.
