However, the Argentina international has failed to live up to the price tag, with his involvement on Sunday failing to help Chelsea win the trophy.
Fernandez was hoping to help his side lift their first-ever trophy since the Todd Boehly takeover, only for Virgil van Dijk to spoil the party with a 118th-minute winner.
Liverpool fan mocks Enzo Fernandez
With Chelsea stars distraught after the defeat, a Liverpool fan evidently added salt to an injury as he was caught on camera mocking Fernandez.
A video shared on social media showed the Blues' midfielder climbing up the Wembley balcony to collect his runners-up medal when the fan in question mocked:
"Enzo, unlucky lad."
Fernandez stopped momentarily staring at his tormentor before a teammate ushered him to go up to avoid a confrontation.
As the Chelsea ace left, the fan let out a high-pitched laughter, having seen the hilarious side of things.
Fernandez and his teammates will be keen to make amends for their Sunday performance this Wednesday when they take on Leeds United in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge.
