  • Kaizer Chiefs are struggling in front of goal this season
  • They have failed to score more than once in their last six games
  • Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has suggested a solution

Kaizer Chiefs have struggled to score goals in the last few games in the DStv Premiership.

Amakhosi legend Doctor Khumalo has questioned the coaching of Chiefs strikers, who have missed several big chances in the last few matches.

In their return to the PSL after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Chi9efs were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Royal AM away from home.

The PSL giants missed some big chances in the game. Ashley Du Preez was the main culprit, as he squandered one-on-one chances against goalkeeper Hugo Nyame.

Khumalo says the club need to hire a coach to help the striker improve their finishing.

"It's so unfortunate for Ashley to have missed those opportunities that he got. he just came back from injury," via KickOff.
"When you look at the coaching side of it, you ask yourself, do they have a one-on-one session in terms of strikers familiarising themselves on how do we score one-on-one with the goalkeeper, finishing in the box and all that."
"If Benny [McCarthy] is doing it there [Manchester United]. so it means we can do it here. If we want to be with the rest of the world, we can't take ten steps backwards. We have to follow suit in order for us to have a team or players up to standard."

Kaizer Chiefs have not scored more than two goals in their last six straight PSL matches. They have scored 16 goals in 17 games.

Mosimane to Kaizer Chiefs?

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported that Kaizer Chiefs could hire Pitso Mosimane at the end of the season when he leaves Saudi Arabia.

The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns coach is currently coaching Abha Club in the Saudi Pro League and has been tasked with keeping in the first division.

Amakhosi have yet to appoint a permanent manager since the departure of Molefi Ntseki, with Cavin Johnson taking charge on an interim basis.

Chiefs draw with Royal AM

Sports Brief also reported on Kaizer Chiefs' draw with Royal AM.

Chiefs squandered an opportunity to climb into the top five of the DStv Premiership as they were held to a frustrating goalless draw at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday, February 18.

Despite their recent unbeaten streak in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), which saw them notch up three wins and two draws, the club failed to capitalize on their momentum.
