  • Napoli's Victor Osimhen had a slight skirmish with Cagliari's Yerry Mina during a Serie A clash between the two sides
  • Colombia's Yerry Mina attempted to rile Osimhen during the Serie A fixture as he pinched the Nigerian's chest
  • Osimhen had the last laugh as he scored his first goal of 2024 when he netted in the 65th minute of the encounter

Victor Osimhen is such a threat that players find inventive ways to keep him quiet during a game.

The attacker made his return to Serie A after Nigeria’s exploits in the Africa Cup of Nations, looking to pick up where he left off for Napoli.

Cagliari’s Yerry Mina was tasked with marking the player during the game between the two sides and tried a different approach to keep Osimhen quiet.

The former Everton defender tried to get the Nigerian striker so worked up that he would get in trouble with the referee or sent off.

The Colombian defender was marking the AFCON finalist when he grabbed him from behind while Osimhen was trying to get free and make a run into the opponent’s half.

Unable to shake off the defender, Osimhen pushed him to the ground.

Cagliari’s players quickly complained to the referee, trying to get the striker in trouble, while Osimhen pleaded his case.

The referee chose not to punish either player, instead warning them about their behaviour, while the Nigerian tried explaining that he only reacted the way he did because Mina pinched his chest.

Osimhen gets the last laugh

The Nigerian striker didn't let the moment get the better of him, as he scored the game's opening goal in the 65th minute. It marked his first goal of the new year in the league and his second since returning from international duty.

Rudiger pinches Modric’s chest

While Mina’s methods appeared unconventional, he seemed to have picked it up from Real Madrid’s Antonio Rudiger.

The defender recently made headlines for his playful interaction with Luka Modric, when he also pinched his chest.

It followed on from a previous encounter he had with Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, Sports Brief reported.
