  • Jordan Ayew scored again as Crystal Palace returned to winning ways
  • The Ghana international also delivered an assist in the game vs Burnley
  • Ayew has been on a good run of form since returning from AFCON 2023

Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew scored for the second game running to lead Crystal Palace to a convincing win against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

The 31-year-old, who scored last Monday against Everton, continued his recent resurgence after serving the assist for the opener in the second half.

Ayew then went from provider to scorer moments later to begin the Oliver Glasner era with a thumping win at Selhurst Park.

In a video shared on social media, the Ghana international met a fine cross from the left from Matheus Franca to double the advantage for the Eagles.

The ex-Swansea star had served Chris Richards with the opener three minutes earlier before Jean Phillipe Mateta sealed victory in the space of ten minutes.

Ayew has been a standout performer for Palace this season, netting his fourth goal of the season and delivering his sixth assist of the campaign.

Glasner, who took over from Roy Hodgson, expressed satisfaction with the performance of his players at the end of the game.

“This [patience] was what we were speaking about at half-time,” he said, per EPL news. “We played a brilliant first half, also before the red card, so we were very dominant. We created chances, and I think at half-time it was 6-0 [in terms of] shots for us.
“In defence we did brilliantly. And then we said, ‘OK, stay patient, always keep the balance in the game, we will create our chances’ – and congratulations to the players.
“They did it back-to-back, and so they deserve all the credit today, and congratulations.”

The South London outfit will face rivals Tottenham Hotspurs in their next game.

Ayew scores belter against Everton

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana forward, Jordan Ayew scored a scorcher to open the scoring at Goodison Park as Crystal Palace began the post-Roy Hodgson era with a draw against Everton.

Hours before the game, the Eagles announced that Hodgson had left his role as manager of the club after falling ill during the week.

Patrick McCarthy took charge of the team for the Premier League trip to Merseyside on Monday night.
