Chelsea have been handed a double injury boost ahead of the Carabao Cup final.

The Blues are scheduled to face rivals Liverpool in the final of the tournament on Sunday, February 25, at Wembley Stadium.

The match will be a repeat of the tournament's final two years ago, where the Reds emerged victors after an epic penalty shootout.

Mauricio Pochettino has a headache on how to line up, owing to the number of injuries to key players that he has to contend with.

Reece James tops the list of players who are currently out injured ahead of the cracker, with the Englishman battling a hamstring injury.

According to Sportskeeda, others include Wesley Fofana, Romeo Latvia, and Carney Chukwuemeka.

Chelsea get double injury boost

However, the west Londoners have been handed a timely double injury boost in the shape of Thiago Silva and Marc Cucurella.

The defensive duo is understood to have taken part in partial training in preparation for the final.

However, speaking in his pre-match presser, Pochettino disclosed that the pair would need to be assessed before a decision is made on their role in the match.

"I think we need to assess to see whether they can be involved on Sunday," he said.

According to Goal, Silva picked up a groin injury during Chelsea's 3-1 over Crystal Palace on February 12.

The Brazilian consequently missed his side's trip to Manchester City last weekend, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Cucurella, meanwhile, has been sidelined since December 10, when he picked up an ankle injury.

EPL legend predicts Carabao Cup final

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on football pundit, Graeme Souness, making his prediction for the Carabao Cup final.

The Sunday cracker will be a repeat of the tournament's final played two years ago, where Liverpool came out tops.
