  • Mason Greenwood is on loan at Getafe from Manchester United
  • Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe suggests he could return to the club
  • The embattled star will accept an open door to his boyhood club

Manchester United fans are hopeful that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s statement on Mason Greenwood means the talented forward could return to the club, which he is also open to.

Greenwood is on loan at Getafe after the Crown Prosecutor dropped all charges of assault against him after the incidents with his girlfriend, Harriet Robson.

British billionaire, Sir Jim Ratcliffe took over 27.7% of the club per an official statement by the club, and in his first interview, he reflected on the situation of the 22-year-old.

Per The Athletic, in one of his first interviews, he hinted the academy star could return to the club after claiming a decision would be made on “facts, and not hype”.

“Yes, absolutely. We will make a decision, and we will justify it,” he said. “He’s a Manchester United footballer, so we are in charge of football. So, the answer is yes, we have to make decisions.”

Greenwood ‘ready’ to return to Man Utd

The INEOS chairman’s words gave hope to some sections of the fanbase who want the English forward back, while others insist he must never kick a ball for the club again.

Per Sun Sport, Greenwood is reportedly ready to return and repay the debt he owed the club for standing by him during his trying days if the door is opened to him.

Despite not playing for almost two years, his bright start in Getafe has alerted Spanish clubs to him, including Barcelona, but after the new owner’s words, he will ditch all attempts to return home.

The one-cap England international has five goals and the same number of assists in 21 games for Getafe.

Ratcliffe sets conditions for Greenwood’s return

Sports Brief reported on Ratcliffe setting conditions for Greenwood’s return to Man Utd when he completes his loan move at Getafe by the end of the season.

The British businessman’s conditions are based on facts regarding the situation and the club's values, but it got complicated when he added, “if fans are comfortable with it”.
