There is a famous saying in football that “form is temporary, class is permanent”, and former Barcelona ace Ronaldinho sums this up perfectly.

The 43-year-old continues to delight fans with his natural ability on the ball, long after hanging his professional boots.

He was at it again recently in Turkey, as he participated in a beach volleyball game as a guest for the show Survivor.

Famous Turkish TV producer and businessman Ali Acun Ilıcalı had earlier announced to contestants that there would be a special football player who would grace the show as a guest, and it was soon revealed to be none other than Ronaldinho, per

“Tomorrow, Ronaldinho, one of the greatest football players in the world, will be with you in Dominica,” he told contestants.

Snippets of the latest episode of Survivor have since hit the internet, with one particular clip capturing the attention of football fans.

Ronaldinho scores overhead kick

In the clip, shared by @survivorturkiye on X, formerly Twitter, the 2005 Ballon d’Or winner is introduced by the host and is met by applause from the competitors.

“I am happy to be here, thank you for the invitation. Whenever you need, count on me,” the Brazilian can be heard saying moments after being introduced.

At some point during the games, Ronaldinho receives a pass which he expertly controls with his chest to set himself up for a strike.

Despite his advanced age, the Brazilian then performs an overhead kick, with his effort easily beating the goalkeeper.

He also displayed his versatility by engaging in a game of ‘footvolley.’

One side note was that Ronaldinho was wearing Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum while filming the episode.

Tatum is one of the NBA’s best talents and is part of a team that boasts a league-best record of 43-12.

He has been productive this season, with an average of 27.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.

What has Ronaldinho been upto?

Since officially retiring from football in 2008, Ronaldinho has stayed in the sport, albeit via ambassadorial roles.

He briefly ventured into movies and music, but his life took a wrong turn in 2020 after he was detained in Paraguay alongside his brother over a fake passport scandal.

In 2024, he continues to capitalise on his brand and recently did a modelling gig at the KidSuper brand fashion at Paris Fashion Week.

Best Brazilian players of all time

Sports Brief also listed the best Brazilian football players of all time, with Ronaldinho coming in fifth on the list.

The list also contains legends like Cafu, Romario and veteran attacker Zico.

Inevitably, top spot is occupied by Pele, who is arguably the best centre-forward of all time.
