  • Cristiano Ronaldo's teammates had to be separated before their Champions League match
  • Marcelo Brozovic appeared to tell Aymeric Laporte a few words before he was pushed away
  • The disagreement didn't affect the side as they punched their ticket to the quarter-finals

Marcelo Brozovic was involved in a heated spat with teammate Aymeric Laporte ahead of Al-Nassr's AFC Champions League clash on February 21.

The Cristiano Ronaldo-captained side welcomed Al Feiha at the Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, looking to build on their 1-0 advantage from the first leg.

Their preparation, however, hit a temporary snag after Brozovic and Laporte were spotted exchanging words before kick-off.

Brozovic was spotted saying something to Laporte before another teammate, Ali Lajami, stepped in and shoved the Croatian midfielder away. A member of staff then had to intervene to quash the exchanging of words between the pair.

Here is a video of the incident:

Despite the misunderstanding before the game, all three players started the game, with only Laporte playing the entire 90 minutes.

Otavio opened the scoring in the 17th minute before Ronaldo put the game beyond the visitors' reach four minutes from full-time.

Brozovic and Laporte followed Ronaldo in the Middle East last summer after their former teams reached the UEFA Champions League final. The former was on the losing side that day, with Laporte completing the treble with Manchester City.

Ronaldo's side will now play Al-Ain from the United Arab Emirates in the quarter-finals, with the possibility of facing another Saudi side in the semi-finals should they progress.

Ronaldo salutes Al-Nassr fans

Sports Brief also reported that Ronaldo showed his appreciation to Al-Nassr fans after progressing to the quarter-finals of the 2023/24 AFC Champions League.

The 39-year-old has maintained his sensational form since the resumption of competitive football in 2024.

In a social media post, the former Manchester United superstar shared his joy and gratitude for Al-Nassr's latest achievement. The Champions League represents a real opportunity for silverware this season for the Luis Castro-coached side.
