  • Premier League teams have been impacted by key decisions made by VAR
  • Stats show Newcastle United have been affected the most by the technology
  • The Magpies have lost five points due to decisions made by VAR this season

The Video Referee Assistant has played a key part in the outcome of a number of Premier League games this season.

The decisions taken by VAR have ultimately caused plenty of controversy, with PGMOL coming under increasing pressure to improve the usage of the technology.

According to SPORTbible, Liverpool are among some of the teams that have seen VAR decisions go against them.

Back in September, Jurgen Klopp called for a replay of their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur after VAR controversially failed to overturn an incorrect on-field decision to disallow a Luis Diaz goal.

That decision notwithstanding, fans of all the 20 clubs playing in the English topflight have claimed to have been treated unfairly by VAR at one point.

How could the EPL table look without VAR?

Stats crunched by Manchester World, VAR has had a huge impact on how the Premier League table currently looks, with Newcastle United the side who have suffered the most because of VAR.

Without the technology, the Magpies would have three more points than their current haul of 37, enough to have them sit seventh in the standings instead of eighth.

Chelsea, who have endured a difficult run, are currently sitting 10th with just 35 points.

However, the Blues have benefited the most from VAR and would be having five fewer points and down to 11th.

Man United, meanwhile, would have one more point without VAR, but would still be sitting sixth.

There would not be anything separating Liverpool and Manchester City at the top if VAR was not in use, as the two giants would be tied on 56 points.

That means that Jurgen Klopp's men would have one point less than their current 57.

Elsewhere, Arsenal would still be in third but would be just three points ahead of Aston Villa, instead of the current six points separating the two teams.

Finally, Tottenham Hotspur would still be in fifth place despite losing two points from their current 47.
