Asamoah Gyan believes it is time for Ghanaian legends to join hands and help improve the state of sports in the country.

The former Black Stars captain has insisted the only way to bring back the country's glory days in sports is by getting close to the various disciplines.

This comes after reports of unpaid bonuses to the Black Queens ahead of their crucial 2024 Olympics qualifier against Zambia.

The Black Queens are reportedly owed $7,500 each.

This has led to a massive social media outrage from fans and followers of the national team, with claims that the underperforming Black Stars are being treated better than the female national team.

For Gyan, he feels it is time for legends to use their experience to help sports strive again.

"I believe the time has come for legends in sports to come together and use their influence, network, and resources in attracting investors into our country and make a meaningful impact on our youth in the sports fraternity i.e football, boxing, and other athletics," wrote Gyan on social media.
"I strongly believe that engaging our youth and grooming them through these avenues can get them to be more focused, make sports more fun and attractive and eventually bring us together once again just as it used to be in the past. I have started this journey and I humbly invite all my colleagues to join in this cause in reclaiming our football days," he added.

Gyan came to the rescue of the Black Queens in the past after $30,000 to the team following their African Games success in 2015.

The 37-year-old retired from football last year after an illustrious career, as reported by the BBC.

Gyan reacts to Ghana's AFCON exit

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Gyan reacted curiously after Ghana's exit after a disastrous performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire.

The four-time African champions drew 2-2 with Mozambique in the early stages and then fell out after other group-stage results did not go in their favour.
